Farewell Little Fawn

Hey Babes!! I recently added the black & white colorways to the Fawn Lace Balconette Bra.  *___*  Fucking finally! Haha. I also recently updated my bra band pattern so the mesh band curves beautifully around your underbust. I absolutely love the Fawn Lace Balconette Bra in the black colorway! It's such a daring, sexy & edgy piece. Truly memorizing & fits like a dream!

This week I will be sampling a 2XL underwire bra which would fit a 36DD or 38D. I am excited & I promise I will share my progress with you babes!! Just need to a find a fit model... maybe I can use my mom haha.

Red Lips & Rose Hips

A couple weeks ago I made this floral lingerie duo for my High By The Beach Lookbook. I had this rose fabric sitting pretty on my garment rack for months & finally convinced myself that I should use it. I was so unsure what I wanted to make but I thought I could create my own Stella McCartney inspired floral lingerie set. 

I developed a cropped longline style balconette bra & matching bikini panty. I ALWAYS use power mesh for all my designs so for this lingerie set I made sure NOT to haha. The back of the longline bra has a long four hook/ eye satin closure & adjustable straps made from the self fabric. I have about a yard left of this rose fabric so less than 5 lingerie sets will be made, signed & numbered by yours truly. I won't be releasing this lingerie set until I release my High By The Beach Lookbook but I thought I'd give you babes a heads up.

Creative Workspace: Part One

If you didn't already know, I am a one woman business working from my tiny apartment bedroom. After I graduated FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) back in 2013, I slowly started turning my bedroom into a mini office/ creative workspace. Fast forward 2 years & now half of my bedroom is dedicated to my shop Alexandrea Anissa. Although I love working from home, I am in need of a much larger space especially if I want to hire an intern. As I stated in an earlier post here, I would like a space large enough to occupy 4 sewing machines, a new desktop, a photoshoot area & a cutting table. *___* Whether or not I find a studio to work in I think it would be awesome to revamp my current creative workspace & slowly take you babes behind the seams of Alexandrea Anissa. 

Up above I put together a mini collage of a few items I been lusting over. Right now the color scheme for my creative workspace is pink, black & white. I thought about painting my bedroom walls pink but I doubt my boyfriend would like that idea haha. So check out the links below & stay tuned for a Part Two post. I will be ordering everything after labor day & hopefully be revamping my space by next weekend.

DETAILS

1. Gavik Table Lamp - Small table lamp available in an array of candy coated colors. I am sticking to the white version to keep my space clean, simple & chic.

2. Bracka Scented Candles - Although I currently own a gazillion candles, none of them are pink. ;___; So of course I am going to need these haha. If candles aren't your thing, I would suggest incense.

3. Pink Deer - I am not exactly sure why I need this but it's a deer & it's cute haha. I might use it to hang my jewelry or hang tags. 

4. Blog Planner & To-Do List - Beautiful & effective handmade planners. As much as I love to use my Moleskine the layout doesn't really work for me so I am definitely looking forward to trying these out. 

5. Abstract Striped Pillow Cover - Aside form leopard print I am obsessed with anything striped! *___* This handmade cover is unique & will make for a comfy cushion. 

6. Scented Candle - Probably the dreamiest candle I have ever seen! *___* Of course I will probably never light it but it would make cute office decor. 

7. Faux Sheepskin Rug - Ever since I went over to @bambidoll_'s house I been dying to get my claws on a sheepskin rug. So comfy, cute & will make for a great photo backdrop. 

8. Pink Desk Chair - Since I can't afford a really expensive swivel desk chair I think this pink chair will make for an upgrade. I currently use a chair I bought at a goodwill in Santa Cruz, CA. I actually rolled it down two blocks to get to my car & take it home haha. 

9. Lace Candle Holders - Dreamy delicacies for my desk. Candles set the mood so I am all for these cute holders.

Brooklyn Baby

Here is a behind the scenes photo of a new unreleased collection hanging pretty in Hana Haley's studio in Brooklyn, NY. I truly loved my visit there & I can't wait to go back! ;___; I will be launching a new lookbook within the next month so keep your eyes peeled for dreamy newness. 

In the meanwhile I am kind of searching for my own office/ workspace. I currently still work from my tiny apartment bedroom alongside my two cats. My desk is cluttered with three sewing machines & two MacBooks. It would be awesome if I could get a space big enough to occupy 4 - 5 sewing machines & a completely new desktop. *___* I also would love a mini photoshoot area & a huge cutting table. I do feel like it might be a bit pointless to find an office/ workspace when I want to move to New York but I could always utilize my time here & possibly get an intern to help me out with all the little things here & there.

Vera Mesh Babydoll

Hey Babes!! I made another babydoll. *___* This angelic little number is dedicated to all you pastel loving fairies. I used a soft luxurious satin fabric & an ultra sheer power mesh. I thought about making a matching panty but the satin fabric doesn't stretch at all so that would mean I would need to adjust my pattern, do a fitting & I really don't want to haha.

Anyways, the Vera Mesh Babydoll is just like my Sunflower Mesh Babydoll. This babydoll has no bra padding or a slip, but both of those options are available on my shop. Additional charges apply. I really wanted to add cute white buttons on the center front of the bodice but I don't have any. ;__; The bodice is a cropped longline style balconette bra detailed with white elastic trim, adjustable satin straps & my signature satin bows.

The Vera Mesh Babydoll drapes just below the bum but right above the knees so it's really cute & short. And if you are wondering, I can ALWAYS lengthen the dress for you. Custom sizing or requests are ALWAYS available for any garments on my shop. Additional fees may apply.

Here is a closer photo of the construction detail. I actually took all these photos on my phone, so sorry for the poor quality. I tired to take a few on my DSLR but I suck at photographing anything that's pastel colored. I think I might need some studio lights.

A Peachy Summer

A babe's guide to a boudoir summer:

1. Sunglasses - You can truly never have too many sunglasses. Rain or shine these babies are ALWAYS in my bag. If I am not in the greatest mood & I just want everyone to fuck off I typically wear a pair of sunglasses & put on my headphones haha.

2. Floating Rose Candles - Hell yes!! Whether you love to pamper yourself or if you & your babe are taking a romantic bath, place these in the water, light them & let them float. Not only do they smell amazing but they set the mood. *__*

3. Polaroids - Cherish every moment with an Instax Mini Polaroid. Affordable, easy to carry & everyone ends up looking so dreamy. These are my go-to polaroids for almost all my photoshoots. 

4. Magazines & a Moleskine - Not only was I featured in this month's issue of  Little Paper Press titled "Pretty Fine," this magazine also makes for a great read & source of inspiration. It features over 20 bay area woman & the oh so pretty things they make. And if you need to take notes or write down a few amazing ideas, use a Moleskine! I always carry one in my bag. I own about 20 of them haha. I am kind of obsessed but they are a definite must have for any designer. 

5. Fawn Mesh Panty - Every babe needs a great pair of panties!! The Fawn Mesh Panty combines panels of delicate lace & lusciously soft power mesh embodying your curves. Behind the Scenes: High By The Beach

Yesterday I got to meet up with my two favorite babes, Hana Haley & @bambidoll_ for some much needed girl time & to photograph a few limited edition styles I been working on. We photographed everything at the Sutro Baths in SF. If you never been I would highly recommend visiting! It's such a beautiful place with lots of mysterious scenery ready to be explored. 

Photographing lingerie in public is always a challenge. There is always so many people in passing, staring, glaring, old prudes saying silly remarks but whatever... I just always think my lingerie is fucking amazing & it deserves to be showed off haha.

Here is a closer look of my Nancy Eyelash Lace Babydoll. If you didn't notice, the bra cups are demi style vs my usual balconette bra cups. I been working on new patterns & this silhouette was my first sample/ fit test. The front of the babydoll has a seductive triangle cut out too! *___*

Rose Milk Lingerie

Photographed above is the Fawn Lace Balconette Bras in Red & Fuchsia. Such a dreamy duo. *___* The Fawn Lace Balconette Bras are made from a lusciously soft sheer power mesh & delicate lace trim. The lace I use for this collection is only about 3" wide so in order for me to sew the cups I actually have to zigzag two lace panels together creating a larger width I can actually work with haha. I am always trying my best to work with what I got so if I have to get really creative I will.

For the bra straps I initially wanted to create ruffling lace straps but I didn't want them so dramatic (especially if someone decided to layer this delicate little number under a top or dress) so instead I created lace straps that lay flat against the shoulders. The back end of the lace straps are finished with adjustable satin elastic straps. 

As for the hem of this bra I recently changed my pattern so it curves more along the underbust (not shown here) rather than going straight across. As a small designer I am able to make small improvements that will allow my business & I to grow. Little Paper Press: Pretty Fine

Hey Babes!! I am featured in this month's issue of Little Paper Press titled "Pretty Fine." This publication features over 20 beautiful bay area woman & the oh so pretty things that they make! *___* Such an empowering publication. 

My name is even on the front cover!! So exciting. The only time my name has been on the front of anything was on a newspaper because I got on the wrong bus home when I was like 6 haha.

Not only did I get a six page spread, I also got the chance to rant about myself & my brand. This magazine is only $8.00 USD. Sunflower Mesh Babydoll: Part Two

As promised, here is the new version of the Sunflower Mesh Babydoll with padded bra cups. I am truly in love with this piece & I can't wait to photograph it on a model! *___* I actually NEVER sewn a padded bra before so this was a first for me. Before I actually started sewing I did a little google research & found this tutorial online - Making a Foam Cup Bra. I quickly skimmed the blog posts, cut my bra cups & started sewing!

I only had enough bra padding for one set of bra cups so if I messed up I would have completely fucked myself over haha. Luckily I think I've acquired enough skill to wing it but if you want to try to sew your own padded bra, I'd highly recommend sewing a sample before actually using your final fabric. 

Here is a photo of what the padded bra looks like on the inside of the Sunflower Mesh Babydoll. When sewing padded bra cups you have the option to cover up the padded bra seam so for me, I created my very own seam tape out of the same sunflower fabric as the dress itself. I personally love when you get snippets of the self fabric on the inside of the garment. It's a truly unexpected treasure. Not sure if anyone else notices things like this but I do. 

Here is another example of me utilizing the materials I already had by creating bra straps using the same sunflower fabric. When creating any garment I would suggest try working with as little materials or supplies. This will not only reduce your overall cost but it will keep you thinking on your feet. 

This is what the non padded version of the Sunflower Mesh Dress looks like. The top of the bra cups are finished differently but look pretty much the same.
